E-Wiz at Tigermarket
Utility bill payment kiosks roar into Memphis
CSPnet.com • October 5, 2004
MEMPHIS -- Memphis Light, Gas & Water (MLGW) has teamed with Info Touch Technologies to launch a new service that now allows the utility’s 421,000 customers to pay their bills at some 34 ExxonMobil Tigermarket locations in the Memphis metropolitan area.
MLGW customers can now make real-time, self-serve automated bill payments, 24-hours-a-day, through the E-Wiz Kiosk Network located in area Tigermarkets. Transactions may be securely completed in English or Spanish, and all payments will be immediately posted to the customer’s account. The touchscreen kiosks currently will accept cash payments only. Info Touch Technologies will collect from customers a $1 processing fee for each transaction; MLGW does not receive any revenue from this fee.
E-Wiz is a joint ExxonMobil and Info Touch initiative designed to offer convenience store patrons with convenient access to bill payments, prepaid products and services and other financial services. Its practical services help patrons save time by running their errands while making a trip to the pump or the local ExxonMobil store. Currently, the kiosks can be found in most Exxon Mobil Tigermarkets throughout the Metro Memphis area. New deployments to other cities are expected by the new year, the companies said.
Utility officials said the new service is just one of several initiatives underway to enhance the service it offers to customers. MLGW President and CEO Joseph Lee III said he believes that the new E-Wiz kiosk payment services at local Tigermarkets will strengthen MLGW’s relationships with its customers by providing yet another avenue for its customers to access the utility. MLGW offers a number of additional payment options, including online and by telephone. Customers can also pay their bills at any of the utility’s five community offices and at several area businesses such as grocery stores and pharmacies that serve as MLGW paying agents.
Powered by Info Touch’s Surfnet Premiere software, these kiosks are making available a growing list of valuable services such as other postpaid bill payment opportunities, prepaid PIN-based products and services (including ring tones and games), maps and directions and other financial and communications-related services.
“This latest application underscores Info Touch’s drive to maximize the availability of high volume in-demand consumer applications for each and every kiosk network on both a regional and national scale,” said Hamed Shahbazi chairman and CEO of Info Touch.
MLGW is the nation’s largest three-service municipal utility and serves nearly 421,000 customers in Shelby County, Tenn.
Burnaby, B.C.-based Info Touch Technologies provides software and personal financial services through secure kiosk networks. Surfnet is Info Touch’s trademarked technology for the secure and convenient delivery of e-services, including but not limited to bill payment, wireless Internet access, maps and directions, money transfer, PIN dispensing for prepaid products and services, electronic couponing, video/text/photo e-mail and general web browsing.
