INFO TOUCH AND MAC'S CONVENIENCE STORES DEPLOY INTERNET KIOSKS
BURNABY, BC, October 17, 2000
Hamed Shahbazi, Chairman & CEO of Info Touch Technologies www.infotouch.net (CDNX: IFT) is pleased to announce Mac's Convenience Stores Inc. will test-market 15 Info Touch e-commerce Surfnet Premiere kiosks in Western Canada. The pilot will test volume usage, advertising and Internet Cash cards in a high-traffic, convenience store environment. Info Touch and Mac's will share vending and advertising revenue. With 1,613 locations, Alimentation CoucheTard, Mac's parent company, is the leader in the Canadian convenience store industry and the ninth largest in North America.
Info Touch and Mac's will jointly engage the following revenue streams:
- Pay-per-use Internet access;
- On-screen / GUI advertising;
- Card-based advertising;
- e-commerce sponsorships; and,
- Breakage from pre-paid stored-value cards (using Internet Cash technology)
Mr. Shahbazi stated, "CoucheTard moves the population of Canada through their stores 13 times a year. We are extremely pleased about the long term potential with Mac's / CoucheTard. The model we have built with Mac's will merge rich multimedia with retail-based e-commerce applications, and include an advertising model."
