iPASS AND INFO TOUCH TECHNOLOGIES OFFER BROADBAND INTERNET ACCESS AT MINNEAPOLIS-ST. PAUL INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT (MSP)
802.11b (Wi-Fi) based service takes airport travelers to new heights with high speed wireless connectivity.
Burnaby, BC - August 19, 2002

Info Touch Technologies, North America's leading kiosk technology company (www.infotouch.net) (TSX Venture Exchange: IFT), announced today that it has become the first Wireless Internet Service Provider (WISP) to take advantage of the neutral host model offered at the Minneapolis St. Paul International Airport (MSP) by iPass Inc and Concourse Communications Group. Through this agreement, travelers through MSP can now obtain Wi-Fi (802.11b) wireless high speed Internet access using a daily subscription model, made possible through credit card payments. The new wireless initiative provides affordable public access to an abundance of e-based services at speeds of up to 11 Megabits per second.
"According to a study of 2001 passenger numbers by Airport Council International, the Minneapolis St. Paul International Airport is the thirteenth largest in the world with in excess of 35 million passengers annually," said Anurag Lal, vice president of business development at iPass. "Wi-Fi adoption is growing, and now computer manufactures are incorporating 802.11b capabilities into laptops, just as they have with modems and Ethernet adapters. The agreement between iPass and Info Touch Technologies allows the traveling public quick, easy and convenient access to the Internet and their business networks from anywhere in MSP, without the need to find wireline access."
A user at MSP with a Wi-Fi equipped laptop or PDA simply turns on his device and launches a browser. After automatically being sent a Welcome Page and a wall garden of free links, users are then given a screen that asks for credit card information to initiate the service. The transaction occurs over a secure SSL connection between the users' device and the Wi-Fi access gateway. Once the transaction is processed, the user gets unlimited Wi-Fi usage for the day for a fee of $7.95. Business travelers on day trips connecting via MSP can use the service while waiting for connections on both their outbound and return flights for the single fee. Plans to augment the service with Kiosks for wireline access and Wi-Fi self-help are underway.
"The agreement with iPass is an important step in Info Touch's overall wireless strategy to expand the delivery of 'Business Class' connectivity and services to high traffic congregation points throughout North America", said Hamed Shahbazi, Chairman and CEO of Info Touch Technologies. "Info Touch receives a percentage of transactional revenues in exchange for billing and customer service."
Info Touch is the first participant in the iPass/Concourse neutral host model for Wi-Fi services in airports. This model enables multiple service providers to leverage a single 802.11b wireless infrastructure in the airport to offer the popular broadband wireless service to their respective end-users. This innovative model allows Wi-Fi providers, mobile operators and ISPs the ability to easily expand their service capabilities and footprint without the capital requirement to invest in infrastructure. In addition, the open model allows for broad distribution and wide availability, and can increase the uptake potential and subsequent revenues for service providers and airport authorities.
