Wood County Electric Cooperative announces successful “pre-paid power” program with Info Touch Technologies
“Customers enrolled in “SMARTPOWER” can pre-purchase their electricity by using Info Touch’s self-service pay stations to load cash onto their SmartCards.”
Quitman, TX and Burnaby, BC, August 2, 2005

Quitman, TX and Burnaby, BC, August 2, 2005 – Wood County Electric Cooperative and Info Touch Technologies (TSXV: IFT) today jointly announced initial results of their self-service, pre-paid power program.
Wood County Electric Cooperative (WCEC) customers can now pre-purchase their electricity using cash or a credit card at seven designated payment locations (kiosks) located throughout the nine counties they serve. The customers enrolled in WCEC’s SMARTPOWER program need only their cash or credit card and their WCEC provided SmartCard. Once their desired amount is entered into the Info Touch kiosk the value is loaded onto the SmartCard. When the customer is ready to transfer credit, all they have to do is insert their card into the display unit supplied by WCEC. The display unit provides the SMARTPOWER customers with information that shows how much credit is left on the meter in addition to a history of the power they have consumed.
Powered by Info Touch's industry leading, Premiere software, "cash accepting" automated pay stations are the latest addition to SmartPower, Wood County Electric Cooperative’s leading edge pre-paid electricity program which provides customers an alternative payment option and a way to manage their energy consumption.
“Pre-pay energy solutions are the wave of the future”, said Debbie Robinson CEO/General Manager of Wood County Electric Cooperative. “A big part of the program is all about helping our member-customers better control their electricity consumption and budgeting.”
“To date 6,000 cash based SmartPower prepaid power transactions have been facilitated through the automated paystation program in just six months”, said Hamed Shahbazi, Chairman and CEO of Info Touch Technologies, “Usage continues to ramp up significantly as customers continue to quickly adopt the service”.
The terminals are owned by WCEC and maintained by Info Touch Technologies through a service agreement where Info Touch developed the software, deployed and installed the kiosks and provides on going, remote, and on-site management and customer care.
